Do I need glasses after cataract extraction?
Cataract removal surgery is successful and restores 98% of vision in almost 100% of patients. The quality of vision will depend on the patients vision before cataract development and the type of intraocular lens used.
Cataract patients whose natural lens is replaced with a monofocal lens may need glasses to see at either long or short distances, whereas patients who have a multifocal IOL inserted after cataract removal generally do not require glasses.
