Can a cataract return?

No. A cataract can not return once it has been removed.

Cataracts develop on the eye lens; during cataract extraction surgery the damaged lens is removed and replaced with a introacular lens.

After cataract surgery, some patients experience posterior capsule opacification - a clouding of the capsule that holds the IOL in place. This is sometimes confused with a cataract, and is known as a 'secondary cataract,' but is actually a complication from cataract removal.

Patients may develop cataracts in both eyes but it is not possible to suffer more than two cataracts in a lifetime.
